The naming of a new Attorney General is on the horizon with the announcement to be made by Cabinet in the future.

It follows the decision by Attorney General, Aumua Ming Leung Wai, not to re-apply for the position.

This was confirmed by Prime Minister, Tuilaepa Sa’ilele Malielegaoi, yesterday.

“He doesn’t want to re-apply,” Tuilaepa said. “He has other plans.”

What those plans are, the Prime Minister did not say.

But Tuilaepa said the position has been advertised and the selection process is already underway. He could not confirm when a final decision is likely to be made.

Tuilaepa however confirmed the appointment of the new C.E.Os for the Ministry of Justice and Courts Administration and the Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture.

They are Karoline Afamasaga-Fuata’i and Papali’i John Taimalelagi.

Mrs. Afamasaga-Fuatai will take over from Matafeo Falanaipupu Aiafi while Papali’i replaces one of the government’s longest serving C.E.Os, Masinalupe Tusipa Masinalupe.

Mrs. Afamasaga-Fuatai and Papali’i will join four other new C.E.Os who started their new jobs at the beginning of the week.

Tuilaepa reiterated that the selection process for all the positions was extremely difficult as all applicants were extremely talented and highly qualified.
