They say all good things must come to an end and so it was at the farewell lunch held at St Mary’s College Hall at Vaimoso on Sunday.

It was the final get together after a week-long celebration of the 60th Anniversary of St Mary’s College pupils.

Vice President of St Mary’s Old Girls Association, Muliagatele Makerita Matafeo told the Samoa Observer that the celebration had been very successful and she was sad to see it come to an end.

“This is a farewell lunch after a week-long celebration so today we say goodbye to our sisters who have travelled from afar for the celebration,” she said.

“We have sisters who came from, United States, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii and American Samoa who travelled here just for the celebration.

“The whole purpose of the celebration was for us to celebrate 60 years of friendship and remind each other of the good times that we had when we were being taught here at St Mary’s.

Muliagatele also went on to say that during the celebration, all the classes had donated to the school.

“Last Friday all those who were taught here contributed to the school; not only with cash contributions but some classes donated some equipment for the school,” she said.

“So with cash and equipment put together, we managed to raise about $60,000 tala from the classes.

“And so with that amount, we want to help raise the standard of the school especially through the resources that are being used.

“We want to make sure that the students now are benefiting from what we are doing and what we are giving to the school so that St Mary’s can continue our proud tradition of excellence.
