The Deputy Registrar of the Ministry of Justice and Courts Administration, Victory Lesa, has been granted bail.

The accused appeared before Supreme Court Justice Niava Mata Tuatagaloa yesterday morning.

He was represented by lawyer, Aumua Ming Leung Wai with Vaisala Afoa from the Attorney General’s Office representing the prosecution.

The prosecution did not oppose the bail application.

Justice Niava granted the bail application, before imposing some conditions on the accused.

“The conditions of your bail are for you to surrender all travel documents to the registrar today (yesterday) and you have to sign at the Apia Police Station every Friday before 4pm,” she said.

The matter returns to Court next week Monday for mention.

Mr. Lesa was arrested last Friday and is accused of allegedly removing a gun from a Court exhibit.

He is suspended, pending the outcome of the hearing.
