Mixed results during busy period

Businesses around Apia experienced mixed results during the Christmas and New Year period.

While some companies enjoyed great sales, others saw lower foot traffic and sales than in the previous year.

For Home Café, business was slow. As the café is located far from the city centre they “didn’t see the craziness,” of Christmas and New Year, according to Frank Pelesala.

However, the addition of a new bar has kept the staff run off their feet with functions a few nights a week over this period.

On the contrary Business Supplies Limited again saw this period as one of their peak sale episodes of the year.

Toy sales went through the roof with playgrounds being particularly popular according to Senior Marketing and I.T. manager, Arnold Meredith.  The layout of the shop was even adapted and extra staff members were taken on to manage with the busy Christmas period that transitioned straight into major back to school sales.
