The Police has launched an investigation into the death of a man, who passed away at the Tupua Tamasese Meaole Hospital, yesterday.

The investigation was confirmed by Police Superintendent Soloi Iosefo, who also identified the deceased as Malaki Jeremiah Tauili’ili.

The Superintendent told the Samoa Observer the death followed an incident at the Marina last Friday night, where Mr. Tauili’ili was left in a coma.

“All I can say is that the matter is being investigated by the Police,” he said.

He added that he was not at liberty to divulge any further information until the investigation is completed and charges are laid.

The Samoa Observer understands that Mr. Tauili’ili is in his late 20s and had worked as a Civil Engineer for the Ministry of Works, Transport and Infrastructure.

Since the news of his passing, many of his friends, colleagues and family members have turned to social media to express their sadness and share their grief.
