The Manu Samoa Sevens has finished 5th at the Silicon Valley Sevens tournament in the U.S.A.

But it’s not bad when you consider the team they beat.

Samoa overcame Fiji, 26-14 to secure the 5th place. The tournament gives Sir Gordon Tietjen’s men an ideal preparation ahead of  the H.S.B.C Sevens Series which kicks off in Dubai.

Earlier today, Manu Samoa learnt their lesson about letting their opponents jump out to a great start.

In their Cup quarterfinal, they mounted a comeback against England only to find it was too late.

They allowed England way too much breathing space when they led 20-0 at the break.

Tries from Jacob Ale and Malu Falaniko in the second spell gave Samoa some hope and with a third try being denied on the stroke of fulltime, at least the team showed potency with the ball in hand.

They need to continue that when they play off for the plate.

On the first day of the tournament, Samoa defeated Ireland, 10-5, drew with England, 14-14 before defeating Canada, 17-12.

The tournament is part of the build up to the H.S.B.C Sevens Series which kicks off in Dubai.
