It is still early days but the Development Bank of Samoa is looking to build new offices.

This was according to DBS general manager Fuimaono Lima yesterday. Two reasons are behind the Bank’s move to rebuild their office at Savalalo was the main reason.

To a lesser extent the decision to rebuild has come from the Ban’s intention to develop their present prime location.

Over the past years there has been a push to develop the face of Apia. Supporting this idea, DBS intends to develop the area where their offices are situated.

DBS has begun advertising for interested parties to design the new look offices.

He said that was as far as he could comment on future plans. At this stage DBS is seeking to find ways to better improve their situation and that nothing was yet confirmed.

All details regarding location, size and cost of the new offices are still to be discussed by the Bank.

He did say however that there was an intention to provide office spaces not only for DBS, but also general office space.

When more concrete information of the development plans have been finalised he will be able to give a clearer idea of how big the development will be.

DBS is currently calling for expressions of interest from companies who wish to be involved with new project.

What they are specifically looking for are companies with professional backgrounds in architectural work and the ability to meet deadlines.

Closing dates for these applications is Monday 4 November.
