A story in the Samoa Observer about members of a family living overseas asking for help in tracing their birth mother, has had a happy ending.

Afton Fa’apuna contacted the Samoa Observer online with this request and photographs in late May.

“Hello my name is Afton and first off I’m not at all selling anything!  The lady circled in the pics is my birth mom Ruta Sunia, well Sunia is her maiden name.  she's from the village of Alamagoto, Samoa. And I’ve been praying for help to get back in contact with her!

The 3 girls at the bottom are her daughters, my younger sisters.  Please if you know of anyone or anything that could help me I’d be more then grateful!  Thank you for your time and God Bless.”

Following a short article published in the Samoa Observer , Afton wrote again. “I’m speechless and very grateful beyond words on your quick response. I also sent a part of my adoption papers which might help. Thank you so much and God bless!

Thank you so much for getting in contact with my family!  I've had the opportunity of taking with them on  FB.  God bless you!  And then further to that, another family member wrote: “A friend send me an article regarding my cousin Afton looking for her mother Ruta Sunia of Alamagoto. I am Yvonne Sunia of Alamagoto. Yes we lost contact long time ago and I'm happy because this article will help us reunite.”
