The family of a one-year-old toddler is blaming the country’s public health system for negligence resulting in their son’s paralysis. Tovanse Meni of A’ufaga was born healthy last year until he became ill and was diagnosed with pneumonia and admitted to the Moto’otua Hospital.

Police announce coronial inquest

A coronial inquest will be done on July 25 into the deaths of two toddlers from Safotu, the Ministry of Police has announced. “On 12th July, a post-mortem examination was conducted at Moto’otua Hospital for the two babies from Safotu, Savaii. The post-mortem examination was conducted by a pathologist from Australia. Further inquiries with samples obtained from the two babies have been taken overseas for analysis,” stated the statement.

Tuila’epa and taxing the clergies

I have been watching with great interest from afar the development of this issue in our beloved country. Interestingly, many, including the highly credentialed Rev Vaiao Eteuati, have been fooled by the apparent simplicity of the issue. But I do not see the issue as simply about the clergies paying taxes.
