Tulela Boutique Samoa had a chance to take part in the L.I.F.E.-Con market day at the Tanoa Tusitala Hotel last week.

The market day was a time for local fashion designers to display their outfits or accessories for members of the public.

There was a great sale on prices for some items on display.

Owner, Dinah Macdonald, who is also the exclusive agent for Pacific Island Art in Samoa said, “My mother was always well dressed and groomed; she was the first Pacific Island radio announcer here in Samoa.

“The boutique was created in 2013 to honour my mother Tulela Schmidt (Tulela means the rising sun).”

At the fashion show on Saturday evening held at Taumeasina Island Resort, various designers, including Tulela Boutique Samoa, showcased their unique clothing designs.

The boutique was set up to provide women’s clothing, evening shoes and accessories at the most competitive prices in Samoa.

“Tahiti Art was created more than 50 years ago with the desire to keep a local expression throughout the processes used and the patterns of traditional Tahitian inspiration.

“The implementation of specific techniques for block printing of motifs carved by hand always goes back to the ancient methods of tapa decorating with use of new colouring agents for implementation,” Mrs. Macdonald said.

Their signature look is Pacific Island Art elei on materials to showcase our Pacific heritage.

A message from the designer is the support for our Pacific Island designs and designers is important to become a global entity worldwide.
