Vaiusu was a place where laughter and tears of joy flowed freely yesterday.

The occasion was the bestowal of the Ulugia title yesterday morning.

Ulugia Dr. Tito Kamu told Samoa Observer fourteen family members have the blessing and the support of the entire Ulugia family.

The last time they had a saofa’i was back in 2012.

“Many have passed away, and the family has grown hence the move to hold another saofa’i,” he said.

“We have family from America, New Zealand Australia, American Samoa and of course local men who have had the honors of being bestowed one highest titles in Faleata County.”

Ulugia Dr. Tito further told Samoa Observer there are 23 titles bestowed included Usia’i; Lauoi; Tagiao; Letuli and Maluseu.

One newly bestowed Ulugia Lomalasi Laufili was honored to be involved.

“This title Ulugia was held by my late father Ulugia Laufili who had since passed on, given that I am one of the two son’s in the family, I had to take up the responsibilities of the Chiefly title.”

“Being a Chief brings forth a lot of responsibilities and one I am ready to take on.”

“Men in our village and families look froward to this day and I am grateful I have been one of the titleholders this morning.”

The blessing and service was held in the Vaigaga CCCS Church on Thursday and yesterday was the title bestowment.
