Children motivates father to work harder

Most parents only have one wish.

That is for their children to have a good education so they can achieve what they are aiming for in the future.

The same goes for a father of three who is a security officer at Tafaigata.

Samuelu Misiluki, 47, is from Falelauniu and Fagali’i.

“My biggest worry is not being able to pay my children’s school fees because this is the most expensive item for us nowadays,” he said.

“I don’t think there is a parent out there is does not become worried about this. The cost of living is hard to deal with and then you add all the school expenses and you can see how hard it becomes.”

Samuelu said the money he earns from his job is not enough for his children’ school fees.

“I don’t want to miss out a single day of my work,” he said.

“My family depends on me and that motivates me to work harder especially for my children.

“I have a son who attends Avele College and my daughter is studying at the N.U.S. She is the one whom I am concerned about because her fees are very expensive.

“As a father, it would break my heart if one of my children is unable to attend school because I cannot pay for it.

“So my children motivate me to work harder.”

Samuelu agrees that the cost of living is expensive.

“Our people do complain about the cost of living but we cannot do anything about it,” he said.

“All we can do is listen and work. It’s the government’s decision so we can’t move away from it.

“Even though we are struggling all I want is for our kids to go to school and have the best education. The money I earn from my work is not enough but we make do with whatever we get given.”
