New Zealand’s Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern, will touch down at Faleolo International Airport this evening.

The one-day official trip to Samoa will include site visits to the Moata’a Mangrove Walkway, Habitat for Humanity site visit in Maagiagi and the Marist St Joseph’s Sports Club visit Lotopa Sports Complex.

Ms. Ardern will also sit at a roundtable discussion at the National University of Samoa and take part in a Climate Change Luncheon at the Robert Louis Stevenson Museum.

Ms. Ardern is scheduled to depart Samoa on Tuesday.

As reported earlier, New Zealand’s High Commissioner in Samoa, David Nicholson said the New Zealand Prime Minister’s visit will focus on climate change, gender issues, youth and more.

Ms. Ardern has a strong interest in Samoa because her father was based in Samoa as the New Zealand Police Liaison Officer for the South Pacific from 2009 to 2013.

“Ross Ardern is currently the High Commissioner of Niue. He has recently been appointed as Tokelau’s administrator and he will be coming here quite a bit,” said Mr. Nicholson.

“So her father and mother have lived here for three years and so we understand that she has a strong interest in this country.”
