Custom Logistic Services is bringing a fresher approach to an existing model of shipping in Samoa.

That is the rationale behind opening an office in Samoa with its headquarters in New Zealand and Australia according to the company owner and founder Matthew Zeludko.

Speaking to the Samoa Observer at the official opening of their Samoa office last Friday, Mr. Zeludko said his company has been doing business for Samoa over the last four years out of their New Zealand office.

And he decided that it was time to expand their services beyond New Zealand to Samoa, after meeting Alo Leota.

“In 2015, we met up with Alo Leota. I was looking for a young energetic and vibrant sales representative to get the Auckland office up and running and in walks Alo who is 64-years-old.

“He introduced me to Samoa, and there are two reasons why we came here, we saw the opportunity to do good business and provide something different and the fact that we were attached to the place.

“Samoa is very welcoming and warm and humbling place and those two things together was personally motivating,” he said.

Custom Logistic Services has been doing business for Samoa for about four years out of New Zealand, added Mr. Zeludko, and managing the relationship out of New Zealand.

“We are spreading our wings, with the Samoa Office and one to open in United Kingdom next year.

“At the core of our business and being quite young in business ownership in just young of age, we are looking for ways to develop the costumer experience implementing new I.T. new software, new tools.

“We are bringing in new things to redesign and freshen up the service of shipping into Samoa,” he added.

Mr. Zeludko said apart from their services, they will focus on the customer experience.

“Shipping companies are good at getting cargo from Point A to Point B. However, often the customer doesn’t know when it is going to arrive, how it’s going to arrive and at what cost.”

Initially establishing his company in Brisbane, Australia in 2014, Mr. Zeludko said they began their business with the basics: a laptop, diary, mobile phone and car, and using the kitchen counter at home as an office.

“As with all humble beginnings, we opened Custom Logistic Services with little investment – a laptop, diary, mobile phone and car, and of course using the kitchen counter at home as an office.

“Throughout 2014 and 2015, we were lucky to experience steady growth in the Australian Market, relocating to our current Head Office adjacent to the Brisbane Airport and we currently employ several staff in Australia,” he added.

The opening up of the Samoa operations, added Mr. Zeludko, offered an opportunity to improve services for the local people, in terms of better pricing, better communication and easier business.
