Leap of faith pays off for Grace

Grace Poloa, who was named the top student for Fa’atuatua Christian College has made her parents incredibly proud.

The 16-year-old from the village of Aleisa is the youngest daughter of Angie and Papali’i Poloa.

In achieving her award, she topped Economics and Christian Life Subject and came second in Accounting and Computing.

Her success, Grace said,  was due to God who made it happen for her.

“I give all the glory back to God because if it weren’t for Him, I wouldn’t have got this far.

“I had faith in Him and trusted Him to guide me all throughout my journey here at Fa’atuatua. So this is all for God because this blessing is from Him.

“Today, I am really excited and happy and all thanks to our heavenly father. I would also like to thank my parents, siblings, friends, the Principal and the staff of Fa’atuatua for helping me and supporting me always.”

She admits that her journey at Fa’atuatua wasn’t easy.

“It was tough and long, but I am glad that it is all over, and I thank God for that.

“Attending Fa’atuatua College has taught me so much and it has been just amazing and wonderful.

And as she exits one door, Grace said she is ready for the next one to open.

“With God at the forefront, I am ready for what’s next for me. I am ready to take on the challenges and I know that nothing is impossible if we rely on Him.”

Looking ahead, Grace said her main goal in life is to become an economist.

“I am ready for University and will continue taking full commerce and will probably up my game because University will be a lot different from college.

“But I will still let God be at the forefront of whatever I will do in the future. I am ready for the next chapter of my life and I will continue to rely on God to provide for me and guide me.”

Grace’s father Papali’i Poloa was speechless when asked about how he felt about her daughter’s achievement.

“I am really proud, humbled,” he said.

“No words can describe how I feel right now.

“I was shocked because this school is filled with all the half caste children and I didn’t really think that my daughter would achieve something like this.

“This was something I did not expect. I knew she was always good in school, but I didn’t think that she would top the school and become the Dux.”

The proud father said as a parent, his main advice to his children is “always humble themselves before the Lord and use whatever God instilled in them to the best of their ability.

“I’m sure it’s the same thing any parent would say to their children. I always push them to work hard and do well in school and leave everything to God.”
