Providing context

Dear Editor

Re: Golf, conflict of interest, New York and the persecution of Christians

Here is some context. There are two types of Churches in China. The state-sanctioned churches, which accept the Chinese communist party is the government.

These churches are thriving; especially the Chinese Catholic Church.

Then there are so-called “underground” churches, which do not acknowledge the Chinese communist party.

It is these churches which are being persecuted.

Similar to the Muslim groups in Xinjiang autonomous region and the anti-Beijing Tibetan groups in the Tibet autonomous region.

The state sees all of these groups, which do not acknowledge the government as terrorist groups who pose a threat to the stability of the country.

On the issue of Samoan rugby, to be honest, I think it is time for the Board to stay out of the way.

Most things that have gone wrong with Samoa Rugby in the past decade is directly because of the incompetence of the Board.

This whole business with Fuimaono started because the Board went ahead and thought they knew what they were doing.

Clearly, they did not. You never see the N.Z.R.U. Board in the media spotlight. C.E.O. Steve Tew runs the show with his staff. The N.Z.R.U. Board is never ever seen. Yet in Samoa, the Board seems to think they are the only show in town.
