Samoa Airways landing fees request being considered

The request to waive the landing fees for Samoa Airways at Faleolo International Airport is unlikely to be granted. Instead, they are likely to be charged at a much reduced rate. So says the Minister of Works, Transport and Infrastructure, Papali’i Niko Lee Hang, who confirmed the request has yet to be approved by Cabinet.

The Associate Minister of Justice and Courts Administration, So’oalo Mene, has rejected reports that a Government vehicle assigned to him was damaged during an incident outside a local bar involving his wife last weekend. “I invite you to look at the vehicle and you can see nothing was damaged,” he said. “I had a disagreement with my wife, and yes publicly.”

An 18-year-old boy accused in a murder case has asked the Supreme Court for permission to be released on bail. Ietitaia Misialofa of Fogasavai’i appeared in Court yesterday. He pleaded not guilty to the charge of murder and being armed with a dangerous weapon.

National Orchestra impresses

The heavenly harmonious sound of the National Orchestra of Samoa and Chamber Opera Choir rung out beautifully at Taumeasina Island Resort on Friday night. The chamber ensemble concert was well attended by guests, including the Head of State, His Highness Tuimaleali’ifano Va’aleto’a Sualauvī II and the Masiofo, Her Highness Faamausili Leinafo.
