Telecom infrastructure specialist Flexenclosure has received an order for two of its trademark eCentre data centre solutions from Samoa Submarine Cable Company Limited (S.S.C.C.).

They will be deployed as cable landing stations terminating the new submarine Tui Samoa cable at Vavaise and Tuasivi.

Following the contract signing in Hawaii in January, construction of the cable landing stations has already begun at Flexenclosure’s factory in Sweden and the ground-breaking ceremonies have taken place in Samoa. Operational deployment and full commissioning of both eCentres is planned for June of this year.

The eCentres will terminate the new submarine Tui Samoa cable, connecting Samoa, Fiji, and Wallis and Futuna.

The Tui Samoa cable will reduce the current dependence on satellite communications and accelerate the launch of innovative new services.

”Samoan people and the region will benefit from fast, reliable and affordable Internet which will open up opportunities for social and economic development,” said Emmanuel Delanoue, C.E.O., S.S.C.C.

”Given the national importance of this project, we chose Flexenclosure to supply the cable landing stations as they have a very strong track-record in deploying turnkey, customised and ruggedized solutions able to withstand the harshest of weather conditions like those of the Pacific.

“We are happy to see the contribution of Flexenclosure in providing scalable and cost effective solutions even to remote places like Samoa.”

“We are very excited to be a part of such a transformational project for the country and people of Samoa,” said David King, C.E.O, Flexenclosure.

“eCentre is the world’s most versatile data centre building and we expect to see significant growth of our cable landing station business over the coming months and years.”

Flexenclosure is a specialist in prefabricated eCentre cable landing stations specifically for the submarine cable industry.

They can be built to accommodate permanent staff or to be unmanned 24 x7 facilities.

And with eCentre’s modular construction, facilities can easily be expanded to accommodate additional equipment as data traffic grows, all without interrupting on-going operations.

Flexenclosure has pioneered the deployment of prefabricated data centre technology into many developing nations in Africa, Latin America and Asia, as well as managing projects in Europe.

The upcoming deployment of the two eCentres in Samoa expands Flexenclosure’s presence in the Pacific region.
