Issues pertaining to water – including the challenges faced by the sector – were brought to the fore yesterday.

It happened during the National Water Leaders Forum 2016 co hosted by the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment and the Minister of Works Transport and Infrastructure.

The one-day meeting was an opportunity for government leaders, head of departments, N.G.Os, community leaders, industry leaders, and policy think-tanks, to discuss pressing water issues in Samoa especially within the urban area.

The Forum delved into profiles of key water resilience and sustainability issues within the urban and rural landscapes, water governance, and partnerships among stakeholders and communities.

The Forum’s aim was for the profiles of these key water issues, to be elevated within the national agenda, and mainstreamed into government and community discussions and decision-making.
