Another poor plan

Dear Editor,

Re: Wharf closure threatens economic disaster

Another poor planning that will cost Samoa $$$.

The P.M. and his Cabinet only views the glamours and glitz of these deals but failed to read the fine print.

These companies will not pay for any additional work/scope outside of the cable. All other services that may be disrupted by the cable shall be paid for by the Government of the Independent Sate of Samoa.

These companies are under a major corporation umbrella that have shareholders all over the world. Their main objective is increase shares for each shareholders. Which means they don’t care if the service works properly or not.

They will get paid regardless of the quality of the final product.

They offered to provide cable network to Samoa. It doesn’t state what type of quality service it shall meet.

These small companies that is similar to the Solar Company that is now trying to undermine the so called original deal operates under the “No Moral” principle. Our government is agreeing to massive future costs that we will be passing onto future generations. It is more evidence that this P.M lacks the skill of making deals to benefit us. His time in office has passed long time ago.

Please Samoa. It is time to think about a new direction. It starts with a new leader. Next election will be here soon enough. Consider voting for new ideas to lead our government and people. We will be paying for all other works beyond the path of the cable for years and years.

Having cable in our Island Nation is wonderful news. But the contract agreement needs to review and ratify every five years to ensure we are not paying for this old technology into the next 100 years.
